U.S. Xpress Enterprises leader Eric Fuller will join The Company Lab, a business accelerator based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, according to a Wednesday announcement from the organization.
The transition will happen with Fuller stepping down from his role as president and CEO of US Xpress in the near future after ensuring a smooth transition of leadership, the nonprofit said.
“Joining The Company Lab is a huge honor, especially with the new direction the company is heading in with sustainable mobility,” Fuller said in a statement.
Fuller will join as executive in residence of the nonprofit, which helps entrepreneurs with startups in the region. The organization is launching a program for startups in the sustainable mobility space.
With the position, Fuller will be “recruiting and developing entrepreneurs on a national scale, providing mentorship, creating connections in the freight and logistics industry, and offering strategic guidance,” the organization said.
The announcement comes as Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings has moved to acquire Chattanooga-headquartered U.S. Xpress for over $800 million. The deal could close in early Q3, Knight-Swift suggested last month during an earnings call and investor presentation.
Fuller has worked at U.S. Xpress for decades, serving roles such as regional operations manager, senior vice president of operations, and chief operating officer.
His father, Max Fuller, co-founded the company with Patrick Quinn in 1985.
