Dive Insight:
Knight-Swift has picked up Yellow properties and leases across the country from the bankrupt carrier, with other sites including a Southern California property.
The traditionally TL giant is seeking to make an in-house nationwide LTL network. The DHE acquisition for Knight-Swift involved acquiring the non-union regional LTL division from Dependable Highway Express.
Yellow, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2023, has been offloading its properties to carriers and other businesses ever since.
Recent court filings noted that process is continuing with about $6.8 million in pending deals for property in Knoxville, Tennessee; Southington, Connecticut; Tupelo, Mississippi; and West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana.
Earlier this year, ArcBest picked up two strategically located facilities in Q1 through Yellow’s property auction process, CFO Matt Beasley said on an earnings call. The properties are located in Kent, Washington, and Aurora, Colorado.
