Dupré Logistics acquired Florida-based Interstate Transport, the company announced June 15.
The purchase will expand Dupré’s density and service offering in the Sunshine State and “expand its East Coast operations and carrier network,” the Louisiana-based logistics provider said.
“The combination of Interstate's expertise, healthy footprint in the food and beverage logistics space, and the strong cultural overlap between our two companies made this a winning combination," Mike Weindel, Dupré Logistics president, said in a statement.
Based in St. Petersburg, Interstate Transport offers dry van, reefer and flatbed brokerage services to customers in food, retail and other industries. Its name will be retained.
Under Dupré’s ownership, Gloria Hudson — Interstate’s president, founder and CEO — and VP Zach Aufmann will continue to serve in senior leadership roles.
It’s another step into the food transportation sector for the logistics provider, founded over 40 years ago. In November 2020, the company acquired Michigan-based TTS Logistics, entering the specialty produce transportation market.
Dupré also suggested this month’s acquisition wasn’t the last one it would make.
“We continue to pursue opportunities that will help us broaden our service portfolio, and increase our company footprint across the United States,” Weindel said.
