AAA Cooper Transportation promoted John Hammons, its VP of enterprise development, to EVP and chief strategy officer, the company announced on LinkedIn last week.
Hammons had worked at AAA Cooper for 15 years as VP and the previous seven as director of dedicated services, according to his LinkedIn profile. His elevation comes as Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings rapidly scales Alabama-based AAA Cooper and its other LTL subsidiaries.
AAA Cooper credited the 30-year trucking industry veteran with playing a crucial role in the startup of its dedicated services unit before shifting his focus to LTL and the company’s overall strategy.
“John’s contributions and impact on our company have been exceptional, and his experience and leadership skills ensures we continue to be well positioned in the transportation industry,” AAA Cooper said in the LinkedIn post.
Hammons is the latest executive to join AAA Cooper’s C-suite following longtime President and COO Charlie Prickett’s ascension to CEO last month. Prickett took the reins from Reid Dove, who became AAA Cooper’s board chairman in the company’s succession.
Knight-Swift, the nation’s largest truckload carrier, entered the LTL industry when it acquired AAA Cooper for $1.35 billion in 2021. The freight giant aims to build out a national, in-house LTL network by 2026.
