Watsontown Trucking Co. will open a new trucking operations center and terminal in Hagerstown, Maryland in early 2024.
The Milton, Pennsylvania-based truckload, open-top, flatbed and brokerage provider, a subsidiary of Patton Logistics Group, will occupy a 16-acre site at 14375 Breeze Hill Drive, Watsontown said in a press release. The facility features nearby access to I-81, I-70, and US-11.
Watsontown President Steve Patton in a statement said its Maryland expansion provides faster transit times to destinations in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
"With our new location, we’ll provide more jobs and opportunities for people in the area while strengthening our presence in the region,” Patton said.
The company expects to create between 50 and 75 jobs, including drivers and operations support staff, with more possible. The Hagerstown site also provides an additional terminal for the company — its first in Maryland.
A spokesperson said the company is actively hiring drivers for its Hagerstown location. A temporary mobile job trailer will be placed on the site by June 1 with construction to start soon after, the company representative said.
Watsontown has operated for 82 years and has been part of Patton Logistics Group since 1994. The company also has terminals in Dublin and Roanoke, Virginia; Columbus and Jackson, Ohio; Vineland, New Jersey; and Shippensburg, Pennsylvania.
Watsontown has 600 employees operating 475 tractors across the U.S. and Canada.
