Southeastern Freight Lines has expanded service to New Mexico, the regional LTL carrier announced last week.
The service to Las Cruces, New Mexico, is rooted in Southeastern’s operation in El Paso, Texas, said Brian Schulz, VP of service center operations, in an emailed statement to Trucking Dive.
“Having grown over 500% from 2003 to 2023, our streamlined logistics and customizable service offerings in Texas have propelled demand in neighboring markets,” Schulz said.
The El Paso facility has 37 dock doors and 45 employees, making the company well-positioned for extension of its service network into nearby ZIP codes, according to Southeastern.
“The expansion of our delivery services into the Las Cruces area is a testament to our associates’ commitment to fostering a community of collaboration and integrating our core values into every aspect of our operations,” said Joe Cardenas, service center manager at the El Paso facility, in the announcement.
The Lexington, South Carolina-based carrier is among several LTL carriers growing their service networks in anticipation of a freight market turnaround after a two-year downturn.
The bankruptcy of Yellow Corp. last year provided XPO, Estes Express Lines, Saia and other trucking companies a chance to grow their networks by acquiring the shuttered carrier’s terminals.
