Southeastern Freight Lines relocated its Louisville, Kentucky, service center, expanding it to include an elevated appointment warehouse, a driver rest facility and a truck shop, according to a Dec. 9 press release.
The new center, located at 150 Loves Road in Shepherdsville, Kentucky, now has 100 dock doors, up from 48 dock doors from when the LTL carrier first entered the market in 2015. The company now employs 40 people at the facility, a five-fold increase over its initial headcount.
Southeastern Freight Lines said the move was part of its efforts to meet the evolving needs of its customers, support its employees and enhance operational efficiency. The new service center, off of Interstate 65, is about 20 miles from the previous location, which was within Louisville city limits, according to Google Maps.
“This new service center is an incredible upgrade for Louisville, enabling us to not only better support our team of associates but advance our performance and optimize travel times,” said Henson Gibbs, service center manager, in the release. "We’re excited to operate from this new, ideal location to bolster our service in the Louisville area, and I’m confident that great opportunities are ahead for our team."
Jason Hood, regional VP of operations, said the new service center “equips the Louisville team with the resources and capacity needed to continue its growth trajectory for years to come.”
The upgraded Louisville facility is Southeastern Freight Lines’ second expansion in Kentucky this year. In March, the company opened its relocated service center in Bowling Green, growing from 23 dock doors and 12 employees to 45 dock doors and 22 employees.
The Lexington, South Carolina-based company is one of several LTL carriers that have been building up their service capacity to position themselves for the end of the industry’s two-year downturn.
