Saia opened two terminals in West Virginia and one in Edwardsville, Kansas, this month as the carrier looks to grow its terminal network.
The new West Virginia terminals are located in Morgantown and Princeton, increasing Saia’s presence in the state to three terminals, according to a release. The company now operates 190 terminals nationwide.
“Each additional opening supports our strategy of putting the customer first, bringing value to their supply chain through improved coverage and reduced transit times,” Vice President of Operations, East Jared Mull said in a statement.
The opening of Saia’s new Edwardsville terminal outside Kansas City marks its second facility in the metro area, according to a Feb. 6 release.
Saia said it plans to open two more terminals this year, including one in Muncie, Indiana, and another outside Atlanta, Georgia.
Executives noted during a November earnings call that the company may delay plans to open 10-15 new terminals this year if the economy worsens, but would move forward with expansion if it saw long-term market opportunities.
“Our expansion strategy has centered on offering enhanced customer service and meeting increased demand as well as locating new terminals where we’re seeing growth,” Mull said in a statement.
