Saia promoted VP of Finance Matthew Batteh to CFO on Monday, the LTL carrier announced in a securities filing.
Batteh was also named EVP and secretary of the company. He will take over Saia’s financial reins from Douglas Col, who is retiring after four years as CFO.
Col has committed to stay as an advisor through the end of the year to assist with the transition.
Saia President and CEO Fritz Holzgrefe described Batteh in the announcement as “a proven leader in our organization.”
“Matt brings significant knowledge of Saia and the LTL industry to his new position,” Holzgrefe said. “He has a command of the complexities of our business and has been instrumental in the development of the core financial analysis processes that we use at Saia.”
Batteh has worked at Saia since 2015, serving as finance VP since 2023. Before that, he was VP of pricing and analytics and held other pricing and analysis roles.
Batteh previously worked at UPS as an enterprise planning supervisor before joining the Johns Creek, Georgia-based LTL carrier, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He is part of a crop of fresh CFO faces in the LTL industry, including ArcBest’s Matt Beasley and XPO’s Kyle Wismans.
Batteh's compensation package with the promotion includes a $435,000 annual base salary and participation in annual and long-term incentive plans.
As Saia’s CFO, he will lead finance, pricing, accounting and treasury functions, and work with other members of the management team to execute the carrier’s long-term vision, the company said.
