RIST Transport, a Northeast and Mid-Atlantic LTL carrier, has completed its acquisition of AMA Transportation Co., according to an announcement this month.
The terms of the June 1 deal were not disclosed. AMA Transportation operates four terminals and a fleet of 75 power units, serving customers in New England, Metropolitan New York and New Jersey, according to an RIST Transport customer letter.
The New York-based LTL expects the acquisition of Billerica, Massachusetts-based AMA Transportation to allow the carriers to expand direct service routes in New England, improve customer service and boost technology offerings.
Steve Wadhams, president of Wadhams Enterprises, which owns RIST Transport, said the deal is the next step for the two companies after they had thrived for 20 years as service partners.
“What made the decision more compelling was RIST and AMA are both family owned and operated companies,” Wadhams said in a statement. “We aim to continue providing the same great customer service, timely deliveries, and satisfaction for all of our customers."
Customers should not expect major changes initially, according to Gabrielle Simmons, departments manager at RIST Transport.
Owners Mark and Anthony Bruzzese will stay on at AMA Transportation, and the carrier will retain branding elements paying homage to founder Alfred Bruzzese, their father.
“During the transition period, operations will continue as usual with no significant impact to the current standard operating procedures within both companies, beyond offering expanded direct service routes,” Simmons, a third-generation Wadhams family member, said in a statement.
