Redwood Logistics has acquired Rockfarm Supply Chain Solutions, the company announced last week.
The Chicago-based supply chain management and logistics services provider said its cross-border transportation service will be enhanced with Rockfarm’s international freight forwarding, trade compliance and customs brokerage services.
“Together, we’ll offer our customers complete visibility and cohesion across their supply chain by eliminating touchpoints and leveraging business intelligence to identify best-in-class processes and market indicators,” Redwood CEO Mark Yeager said in a statement.
Redwood’s acquisition of Rockfarm follows its 2021 purchases of Skipjack and Proactive Global Logistics in 2021 and Eminent Global Logistics in 2019. The purchases are part of the company’s strategy to grow its 4PL portfolio of services, which includes, brokerage, a dedicated fleet, warehousing and distribution and supply chain consulting.
Rockfarm’s ownership, key leaders, management team and staff members were retained as part of the sale. The company’s Dubuque, Iowa operations center will continue as a Redwood logistics facility.
CEO Todd Colin, who co-founded Rockfarm in 2008, was named chief integration officer at Redwood.
“As we embark on this new chapter, we remain dedicated to delivering exceptional supply chain services to our customers,” Colin said in a statement. “Rockfarm’s integration with Redwood places us at the forefront of technological advancements and industry trends, setting a new standard for innovation and progress.”
Redwood itself has undergone changes in ownership in recent years. CI Capital Partners announced in 2018 that the firm acquired a majority stake in the logistics provider and combined it with Simplified Logistics as part of a 2017 deal.
The investment firm then sold the combined company in December 2021 to AEA Investors.
