PS Logistics of Alabama continued its acquisition strategy over the summer, completing two deals in July and expanding its dedicated trucking and brokerage capacity.
The 3PL announced two deals in July, one for Birmingham, Alabama-based dedicated carrier Action Dedicated and another for brokerage and Jacksonville, Florida-based heavy-hauling specialist Rinaudo Enterprises and its affiliate Ringo Specialized Hauling. Terms for each purchase were not disclosed.
PS Logistics of Alabama has acquired 28 trucking and brokerage businesses since 2016, which includes eight deals between July 2021 and November 2022, according to the company.
The addition of Action Dedicated, which primarily serves the auto component market, enhances the company’s dedicated segment, PS Logistics said in a statement. Rinaudo’s services complement PS Logistics’ brokerage division, while Ringo’s niche in oversized loads opens new opportunities for serving the infrastructure, agriculture and forestry sectors.
Rinaudo was founded in 1984 by by Frank Rinaudo, Sr., and Frank Rinaudo Jr. The company name will remain but will be managed by PS Logistics EVP Kevin Nixon, according to the release.
Action Dedicated was founded in 1995. It also will operate under its current name but will be managed by David McKinley, VP of operations at Action Dedicated.
Its latest deals follow the company’s strategy of acquiring “driver focused companies that complement existing services,” PS Logistics said.
