MEI Rigging & Crating has acquired Pro-Pac International and its affiliate J&J Machinery Transport, the company announced in a July 13 press release.
Stamford, Connecticut-based MEI said combining with Pro-Pac expands its operations in the Southeast, where both Pro-Pac and J&J, each headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, have operated for more than two decades.
MEI CEO Dan Cappello in a statement said Pro-Pac and J&J bring a “breadth of service offerings, depth of industry knowledge and outstanding regional reputation.” He added both firms are a strategic fit for MEI.
Pro-Pac’s services include specialty rigging, transportation and export crating. It has catered to many segments including machine manufacturers, aerospace, and medical sectors. J&J offers heavy haul equipment transport, step deck and flatbed delivery as well as nationwide, long haul and oversize load trucking services.
MEI said Pro-Pac and J&J also provide heavy equipment storage and installation services.
Jim Jones, long-time co-owner and president of Pro-Pac and J&J, will continue leading day-to-day operations of both companies under MEI's ownership.
