- Maverik is adding Relay Payments’ fuel payment technology at its 86 locations that have commercial fueling lanes, according to a Jan. 9 announcement.
- Relay’s cardless purchasing platform offers drivers who use diesel fuel a safer means of filling up that avoids credit card skimming. Users also have access to fuel discounts, price listings and route planning options through the platform.
- Maverik is the latest c-store retailer to partner with Relay, joining Yesway and Pilot, both of which began working with the technology company in 2023.

Maverik’s partnership with Relay continues a busy year for the c-store retailer’s trucking segment. In July, the company partnered with trucking technology company TruckSmarter to offer commercial haulers fueling discounts, as well as the ability to find and book loads and improve their cash flows. About a month later, Maverik brought payment processor Comdata’s fleet and fuel cards to 86 locations.
By using Relay’s platform, professional drivers stopping at Maverik also have access to controls, transparent fees and a 24/7 U.S.-based customer support team. These drivers can also retain any pre-negotiated discounts they’ve already put in place with Maverick, according to the announcement,
“Teaming up with Relay allows our current commercial customers to take advantage of its digital and convenient product, while also inviting Relay’s driver network, who may be new to Maverik, to enjoy our best-in-class locations and save at the pump,” Kerby Cate, director of commercial fuels marketing for Maverik, said in the announcement.
Founded in 2019, Atlanta-based Relay Payments first introduced its digital payment solution to eliminate long delays that forced drivers to wait hours for payment approvals and authorizations. The company has more than 350,000 drivers, 90,000 carriers and 1,500 truck stops in its network.
Salt Lake City-based Maverik operates more than 400 convenience stores across 12 western states. It also operates over 400 Kum & Go stores after acquiring the Iowa-based retailer in 2023.
