Hub Group recently announced that Brent Rhodes, chief accounting officer, will resign to pursue other opportunities on June 27, according to a securities filing.
Rhodes joined the transportation and logistics service provider in April 2024 after more than four years as the chief accounting officer for ATI Physical Therapy. He previously served as the senior manager of M&A transaction services at Deloitte & Touche, per his LinkedIn profile.
Dennis Matthews, who currently serves as Hub Group’s VP of internal audit, will succeed Rhodes in the top accounting position on June 30.
A certified public accountant, Matthews spent nearly 14 years at EY where he was the senior manager for assurance services for the firm’s Chicago office. After leaving EY in 2019, he became the corporate controller for Roadrunner Transportation Systems, and a year later, the assistant corporate controller and director of finance reporting for Regal Rexnord, according to his LinkedIn profile. Matthews joined Hub Group in March 2024.
In addition its new chief accounting officer, Hub Group has logged several other C-suite changes in recent years.
In 2023, the Oak, Illinois-based company named Kevin Beth, formerly chief accounting officer, as CFO, replacing Geoff DeMartino. Then, in January 2024, former HR chief Michele McDermott left to pursue another opportunity.
Later in 2024, Hub Group swapped the positions of executives Brian Meents and Brian Alexander.
Meents became COO, a position previously held by Alexander, while Alexander took Meents’ position as chief marketing officer. Alexander has since left the company, joining autonomous robotics firm Symbotic as SVP of commercial.
Hub Group’s latest leadership transition comes at a time when companies are experiencing a shortage in accounting and other finance talent, according to a Deloitte survey. Per the survey, 44% of CFOs are concerned about the increased workload for existing workers.
