Daimler Truck North America is recalling over 70,000 trucks due to a brake problem.
Certain models of the company’s Freightliner and Western Star trucks are being recalled because brake modulator valves on the front axle may corrode. This may cause the vehicle to pull to one side, resulting in a sudden change in direction and increasing the risk of a crash, according to information on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.
The models, which will have the front brake modulator values replaced free of charge include:

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed April 10, NHTSA said.
The February recall for the specific Freightliner and Western Star models is separate from the manufacturer’s November recall of over 200,000 vehicles, a spokesperson for Daimler Truck North America told Transport Dive in an email.
The late fall recall was over a potential issue in which brakes may pull to one side during adaptive cruise control use. In this situation a faulty valve also would be replaced by dealers for free.
