UPS subsidiary Coyote Logistics is laying off 6.8% of its workforce, the company confirmed to Transport Dive on Friday.
The layoffs went into effect on Friday, with those impacted being notified, CEO Jonathan Sisler said in an emailed statement.
“Coyote has made recent organizational shifts that include the difficult decision to eliminate some positions. We don’t take these decisions lightly and took steps to minimize the number of team members affected,” according to Sisler.
UPS acquired Coyote in 2015 for $1.8 billion. At the time of the purchase, UPS said the addition of Coyote provided growth opportunities in the brokered full-truckload freight segment
Coyote did not provide details on Friday regarding the number of jobs affected or the types or locations of positions facing elimination.
