Covenant Logistics Group rehired trucking sales executive Tyson Wimberly from ArcBest Corp. to return to his former role as SVP of sales, the carrier announced on LinkedIn last week.
Wimberly previously served as SVP of sales and revenue management at Covenant for nearly six years, from March 2015 to January 2021, according to his LinkedIn.
Wimberly returns to his old job at his former employer Sept. 3 after stints with ArcBest and MoLo Solutions, which ArcBest acquired in late 2021. The role had been vacant for the past four years, a Covenant spokesperson said in a text message Tuesday.
"We are pleased to have Tyson back in the family,” said David Parker, founder and CEO, Covenant Logistics, in the announcement. “He has done us a tremendous job in the past, and I'm confident that he will lead us brightly into the future. He truly represents all that Covenant stands for, and I look forward to working with him."
Wimberly came back to Covenant in the key sales leadership role as the carrier reported raising rates three times last quarter. The carrier could further increase rates in the second half of the year, Parker said on a Q2 earnings call.
ArcBest grew its demand pipeline by 35% in Q1. Its LTL subsidiary, ABF Freight, raised LTL pricing 5.9% this month, though it acknowledged it had lost some of the post-Yellow bankruptcy business to competitors.
Covenant has been filling out its leadership team this year. The company hired former Waabi executive Dustin Koehl as COO in May, replacing Sam Hough, who now serves as EVP of expedited operations.
