Circle Logistics is shoring up its executive leadership across its national operations.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana-based freight brokerage firm promoted Derek Holst to senior vice president responsible for overseeing daily operations at its corporate office. Andrew Smith was promoted to senior vice president and will manage the company’s offices in Chicago; Tinley Park, Illinois; and Orlando, Florida.
LinkedIn profiles said the changes happened in November.
The company said Holst will direct sales strategy as well as expand the company’s domestic and global accounts, which now include clients in Columbia, Mexico and Panama. Holst, who has been with the company since its launch in 2011, established relations with its first clients, building long-term trust through delivering freight safely and on time, the company said.
“Because Derek has established so many unique relationships and has developed a sales team known to solve challenges efficiently and cost effectively, Circle Logistics continues to grow under his direct leadership,” said Eric Fortmeyer, president and CEO of Circle Logistics.
Holst previously served as vice president of sales and operations and has worked in logistics for more than a decade. He will manage 350 of the company’s 624 employees.
Smith, who also has been with the company since it started, previously served as vice president of sales and operations. He has worked in logistics for 13 years and contributed to growing the company’s staff and client base in Columbia, Mexico and Panama through establishment of partnerships and creating innovative processes to improve operations.
The company credits Smith for driving its ability to track 90% of its loads live through integration of Transport Pro, which provides better end-to-end visibility, improved customer communication and more secure shipments.
Smith will lead strategic and development initiatives as well as implement new technology to boost efficiencies and carrier communications.
