C.H. Robinson promoted Michael Castagnetto to president of North American Surface Transportation, effective Jan. 31, the company announced last month.
Castagnetto, most recently VP of customer success for the Surface Transportation unit, has worked at the brokerage since 2005. He formerly served as president of its Robinson Fresh business.
“Michael has a proven track record of building strong relationships with our people and our customers, driving operational excellence and delivering exceptional results,” said President and CEO Dave Bozeman.
Castagnetto replaces Mac Pinkerton, who had been NAST president since January 2019. Pinkerton, who joined the brokerage in 1997, is leaving the company at the end of the month to pursue other interests, a company spokesperson told Trucking Dive in an email.
“We thank Mac for his 27 years of dedicated service to C.H. Robinson, the impact and contributions he had on the company, and we wish him the best,” Bozeman said in a statement.
In Pinkerton’s former job, Castagnetto will face the challenge of turning around the Minnesota-based brokerage’s largest business segment, which reported a Q4 year-over-year revenue decline of 15.8%.
