The FMCSA had a busy year working on what it touts as giving the industry more "flexibility." When it wasn't issuing coronavirus-related emergency declaration exemptions, the agency released its HOS final rule and solicited stakeholder feedback on a couple of pilot projects — and got a new (acting) boss.
Trucking-related regulations in 2021 will depend on the comments and outcome of FMCSA pilots, as well as former Mayor Pete Buttigieg's priorities as he leads the Transportation Department.
