Brenna Marron, a Democratic legislative strategist with more than a decade of experience in federal politics, will serve as the FMCSA’s next director of governmental affairs, the agency announced last week.
Marron, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, will advise FMCSA Administrator Robin Hutcheson and other senior leaders in coordinating the agency’s legislative efforts, Congressional relations and policy matters affecting federal, state and local government.
The role is a return to the U.S. Department of Transportation for Marron, who served as an adviser in the Federal Railroad Administration and director of scheduling at the office of the transportation secretary in the Obama administration. She served most recently as deputy executive director of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee.
“Brenna is a proven leader and legislative strategist whose knowledge of transportation issues, commitment to safety, and focus on people reflect the values of this agency,” Hutcheson said in a statement.
Rep. Joe Neguse, chair of the House Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, described Marron as a dedicated and accomplished public servant, whose effective communication and problem-solving skills allow her to succeed.
“I have no doubt she will do great things in her new role,” Neguse told Transport Dive in a statement.
Marron has also worked at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and served under seven House of Representative members.
“I look forward to collaborating with her to expand and enhance FMCSA legislative initiatives and build upon intergovernmental partnerships at all levels of government,” Hutcheson said. “I am confident her skillset will help advance FMCSA’s mission of reducing commercial motor vehicle-involved crashes and improving safety for everyone traveling on our nation’s roadways.”
