Shippers, carriers and trade associations will be among the 34 members of an industry body tasked with identifying trucking’s top research needs.
The American Transportation Research Institute’s board of directors appointed the group, which will serve on its Research Advisory Committee for the 2023-2024 term. The body also includes industry suppliers, commercial drivers and “a diverse cross-section of trucking industry stakeholders” including academia, government and law enforcement representatives.
ATRI is the research arm of the American Trucking Associations. The institute released reports this year on the effect of soaring fuel prices on operational costs of trucking and fuel overtaking driver issues as the industry’s top concern.
“ATRI’s RAC members serve a critical role in identifying and prioritizing the trucking industry’s top research needs,” ATRI President Rebecca Brewster said in a statement. “We congratulate all those appointed by the ATRI Board to serve in this important role and look forward to working with them.”
Ben Banks, vice president of operations for TCW, was appointed as committee chair. The full list of incoming committee members is below:
