Logistics and transportation services provider GSC acquired Seattle-based transload specialist MacMillan-Piper, according to a company press release.
GSC of Oakland, California, said acquiring MacMillan-Piper expands its network of rail transload facilities and warehousing capacity in the Pacific Northwest.
MacMillan-Piper specializes in the agriculture, paper, lumber, steel and dry bulk commodities segments, the company said. The company operates five warehouses with 80 railcar spots and more than 100 dock doors.
"While some companies are scaling back and minimizing services, we're excited to be in the position to significantly grow our service capabilities in the vital PNW supply chain gateway,” GSC President David Arsenault said in a statement. “The combined synergies of GSC and MacMillan-Piper will also accelerate our nationwide expansion plans while providing a broader portfolio of service offerings.”
Mark Miller — former owner and CEO of MacMillan-Piper — will continue his role as president and lead the MacMillan-Piper staff as a member of GSC’s executive team.
MacMillan-Piper and GSC Transport’s joined fleets now exceeds 100 trucks and creates a new network of terminals, yards and chassis located within two miles of both the Seattle and Tacoma ports for GSC.
“MacMillan-Piper is a powerhouse in the Pacific Northwest and together our companies have over 85 years of experience in the logistics industry," said Scott Taylor, CEO, founder and board chairman of GSC.
